Scientists warn it will take centuries to reverse global warming
An analysis published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences said that it will take a thousand years to reverse the changes triggered by current levels of carbon dioxide, and warned that the Southwest United States, as well as other areas of the world, will experience droughts similar to that in the 1930s. Idaho woman's wish for Mesa Falls preserve may have to wait
President Bush could use the Antiquities Act of 1906 to protect 200,000 acres in the Caribou Targhee National Forest as the Mesa Falls National Monument--think then-President Bill Clinton's use of the Act in 2000 to create the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in Utah--but since that seems unlikely, protection of the area in eastern Idaho will have to wait.
